In honor of Arbor Day, the City of Lowell will be hosting a Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, June 12 from 11am-1pm.
Kids Planting Kits: The City of Lowell will be giving away free kids planting kits that will consist of a small planter, flower seeds, and gardening soil. The kits will also include some tree activity ideas for kids to do at home! The kits will be available from 11am-1pm in the City Hall parking lot, on a limited, first-come, first-serve basis.
Shred It Event: The City will also be hosting a free community Shred-It event that promotes raising awareness about identity theft and fraud by reminding local residents about the importance of securely destroying personal documents. This event is for secure PAPER document destructions. Regular sized paper clips, staples, folders, and envelopes are all safe for the shredding machines and can be included with the documents. Any items you need shredded must be handed directly to Shred-It. City employees or City volunteers cannot handle your items. If you need any additional information, call the direct line of Shred-It at (800) 697-4733.
City of Lowell branded hats, t-shirts, and mugs will be for sale.
Kona Ice will be on site with flavored shaved ice.
Live music will be provided by David Michael Howard. David Michael is a native of Gaston County and has lived in the City of Lowell nearly all his life. His father is the former keyboardist of country music star Patty Loveless. The first instrument David Michael picked up was the drums and he has now been a self taught, professional drummer and percussionist for over 25 years. In 2019, he bought his first guitar. He has played at multiple private events and festivals. He's currently writing songs for what will be his very first record and hopes to have a long and successful career as a country music artist. David Michael's material consists of fairly known country rock and southern rock songs - both classic and modern. He also does his own recomposed versions of popular songs. David Michael loves music, playing on stage, and seeing people having fun and singing along to his music. You can check him out on facebook page or on his YouTube Channel under David Michael Howard.
