Today, we pause in solemn remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001. We express gratitude for the bravery and service of all those who waded into the chaos of the moments, days, weeks, and months following the attacks. We honor those whose lives were cut short. We reflect upon how our darkest hour brought out the best in all Americans. All this we hold in our hearts forever, so that we may never forget the lessons of that day.
